Leading up to Christmas

My very first baby sock

A little holiday humor

I went over to give my gifts to my friend Betty and her mother, Joyce.  They're all decked out for the holiday.

It was cold and bright!

Late Autumn Stuff

November has been busy.  The weather has been unpredictable - warm one day, freezing the next.  We've had beautiful days, rain, snow, and wind.  We all dress in layers.

I've been having fun working on knitting projects, baking, decorating for the holidays, and enjoying the birds and squirrels.  Grant has been out in his workshop, doing secret stuff and also starting another kayak.  Dorothy has been to town a few times, including to go to Quincy Sparkle in early December.  Here are some of our memories.

Quincy Sparkle 2016

Ben's and Karl's families and Tom gathered at Mom's to enjoy a fun time after Thanksgiving.

Isabelle and Karl went out to get a tree.

Trips for Trees

Dorothy wanted to drive up to town to have someone along on the annual "Hunt for the Elusive Red Fir" Christmas trees.  We were hoping to get up into elevations that are the environment for such a creature, but were unwilling to get stuck, so we settled for a lower species.  It was lots of fun and got into the holiday spirit.  We went back up again today to get 2 more trees, only this time, we only got to the junction of the Squirrel Creek Road (25N18) to the 25N29 road, below Argentine Rock Lookout.

This site met us as we drove up the road.

Argentine Rock Fire Lookout

I got out to see if we could breast this rock.  Nope.  I moved it.

The road less travelled.

A little pond we found in the woods when stopping to reconnoiter.

Ice Patterns

Dorothy named this "orange peel ice"

We had to stop and check out this puddle.  Neither of us poked it!

Attempt at a snowman

There's that snowman again!

Where we parked.  The view is lovely

You can't see the colors, but this is a rainbow around the sun.

Getting ready to load up, but one more tree must be found.

And there it is!!!
