A day at the beach

Grant and I drove down to meet the Wilsons at their favorite swimming hole.  We were alarmed to notice that the river below Caribou was terribly muddy.  We don't know why, although we guessed it might have something to do with the recent hail storms up near Lake Almanor/Butt Valley Reservoir, which empty into the North Fork.  We picnicked, went paddling in D&J's double kayak, and then went up the road to pick blackberries.  It was a nice day, complete with cloud rainbows.

The muddy water makes swimming unappealing

Dorothy and I went for the first paddle in the boat.

We saw this pretty red flower and went over to check it out

Not sure what it is

We were able to hold the boat here to take pictures

I love these rock formations, which are all over the place near Tobin

And they're off!

Grant pointed this out to me
There was also a rainbow around the sun

Then we drove down the road to pick blackberries

Dorothy and Jeffery made quite the haul

The patch starts here

Grant and I did pretty well too (his bucket was this full as well)

We froze the rest

Lake Davis - Our Last Evening

Our last evening was somewhat emotional.  Grant's pictures from his trip to San Diego, lots of water fowl, another nice meal, cooked by Dana and Dorothy, and a gorgeous sunset witnessed by Martin and Grant.
